Vehicle Description
Early Mustang GTs are hot commodities right now, and real ones like this 1966 fastback are definitely the ones to own. Beautifully restored and a thrill to drive, it reminds us why the Mustang captured America's heart and still lives on today.
Sapphire Blue gives this handsome GT an air of sophistication, as if it's more than just a straight-line weapon. Of course, details like the white rocker panel stripes make it hard to sneak around , but the overall look is clean and subtle without the in-your-face antics of racing stripes. It also helps that the workmanship is first-rate, with exceptionally good bodywork, tight gaps, and expertly rendered details that make this pony fit together better than most. The finish is brilliant and uses two-stage urethane to create a shine that's as deep as the ocean and durable enough to last years with just a modicum of care. Proper GT goodies include the fog lights up front that give it a unique face, and everyone can agree that the dual exhaust trumpets protruding through the rear valence are just plain cool. Someone has invested a great deal of money and effort in this Mustang, and it shows.
The story continues inside, where a two-tone Pony interior has been beautifully crafted using original styles and patterns. Proper running horses have been embossed into the seatbacks, and the seating surfaces look as if they have never been used. Fresh carpets have been protected from day one by matching floor mats, and that's a fresh wood steering wheel. All the gauges appear to be original and in fine working order, and this car carries an ultra-rare AM/8-track radio, so start hitting the garage sales and flea markets to find your favorite tunes. There's also a gorgeous center console whose simplicity matches the Mustang's attitude, and the fold-down rear seat makes it surprisingly practical. In the trunk, there's a new trunk mat and a matching styled steel wheel and spare tire assembly.
This Mustang also carries a correct A-code 289. Of course there's Ford Blue paint on the engine and ancillary parts, and correct decals have been applied wherever necessary. There's an interesting combination of power steering and manual disc brakes, both systems fully restored to as-new condition. Other details like the hoses, distributor cap, and plug wires are accurate reproductions, and the whole thing looks fantastic against the satin black inner fenders. Underneath, it has been restored to the same high standards, with red oxide floors with just the right amount of overspray. Everything is new, from the brake lines to the sway bar bushings, although liberties were taken with the fantastic-sounding Flowmaster exhaust system. Lovely styled steel wheels are a Mustang trademark, and wear staggered BFGoodrich radials.
This is a beautiful Mustang that's also potent; a fast, fun car that doesn't need to advertise. Call today!
