Vehicles like this 1937 Ford pickup are called phantoms: cool rides that never existed, but clearly drawn on the original design to create something totally new that COULD have existed. Taking the sleek art-deco nose and attaching a pickup bed makes for one of the slickest trucks we've ever seen.
Built by Wild Rides, this phantom pickup is a spectacular machine. The craftsmanship is top notch, and the execution makes it a show-stopper everywhere it goes. The body is fiberglass, of course, but the fit and finish are proof that thousands of hours were invested in its construction. Finished in Corvette Sunburst Orange, it's a dazzling display of the custom car builder's art. There are elements that are instantly recognizable, including the swept-back grille and teardrop headlights, but dig the cab that's more 3-window coupe than upright work truck, and the custom bed follows the cab's lines perfectly. Original style fenders, running boards, and beautifully applied graphics complete the illusion, and it's quite convincing. The doors open via remote control, custom LED taillights look like authentic 1939 Ford pieces, and a smooth rear roll pan gives it a highly finished look. It's radical, but it's also easy to see how the factory might have built such a thing in 1937.
The gorgeous tan interior is every bit as astounding as the exterior, and offers every comfort and convenience feature we've come to expect in high-end rods. Those long doors make getting in and out easy, even with the chopped top, and once you're inside, get comfortable in the power-adjustable driver's seat. The look is simple, which is why it works so well, simply because it doesn't overpower the radical bodywork. There's a very cool dashboard with gauges molded into a center panel reminiscent of the 1930s with a modern twist, and a custom center console houses controls for just about everything else. There's a powerful A/C system, a great-sounding AM/FM/CD stereo, and even a pair of cup holders and a power point on the side. In back, the tonneau cover opens to reveal what is really a massive trunk, fully upholstered and offering access to the fuel cell underneath.
Power comes from a high-output 302, and it's always nice to see a Ford engine in a Ford. With an Edelbrock carb and intake, Ford Motorsport valve covers, and tightly packed accessory drive system, it's a neat small block that works well in the sporty truck. Extra effort in hiding the wiring and plumbing pays off with an extremely tidy engine bay that shows well and works even better. A 4-speed automatic overdrive transmission makes for easy cruising, and a 9-inch rear hangs out back. Power steering and disc brakes are part of the deal, and those beautiful Colorado Custom wheels completely fill the fenders by wearing 205/55/16 front and 245/40/18 rear tires.
This phantom pickup is instantly recognizable as a Ford, but it's the incredible details that will have crowds around it every time you stop. Call today!
