Vehicle Description
Now before you rush off to send us an E-mail about the color on this cool '67 Mustang convertible, listen to the story it has to tell. Experts will note that the Color field on the door tag is blank, meaning a custom color, and it seems that the original owner saw a T-bird in the showroom this particular shade of silver and had them order him a Mustang in the same shade. Cool, right?
Anyway, this car has had only two owners, and the second owner got the full story when he acquired it more than 30 years ago, so there's no break in the ownership chain. The car has always lived in South Carolina and Georgia, so it's very clean, just as you'd imagine. About 12 years ago, it received a high-quality repaint, and while they were at it, they treated it to a high-class makeover that really gives that special paint a first-class look. Always a hobby car and not a daily driver, it was easy to keep it in outstanding condition and today it shows a soft gloss that looks right on a car from this vintage. You'll also find new chrome bumpers at each end and it sure seems like someone buffed the stainless, as it looks fantastic against the silver paint.
To give you an idea of how well-kept this wonderful Mustang really is, check out the all original black bucket seat interior. Yes, original. Hard to believe, but like the rest of the car, it's led an easy life with people who have loved it. Except when someone was behind the wheel, it wasn't subject to the ravages of the elements, so the seats show modest wear and no UV damage, the carpets are maybe a little faded, but definitely not enough to replace, and the back seat looks like new. The original gauges are a little faded, perhaps, but you'll be pleased to learn that the mileage shown is authentic and everything works. An AM radio still provides the entertainment, and it has been recently fitted with a new black convertible top, complete with a split rear window, that stows under the original boot.
The 302 was rebuilt about 15,000 miles ago, and it runs superbly. While it was out, it received a fresh coat of Ford Blue paint, and someone was obviously studying the restoration manuals, because all the equipment looks like it was installed on the assembly line. There are very few signs of use, and the 302 is a wonderful travelling companion for a ragtop Mustang. The undercarriage is completely original and untouched, but it's solid and clean, and hasn't been upgraded with a loud dual exhaust or oversized wheels. Instead, there's an honesty about the car's presentation that I think you'll appreciate. Even the original steel wheels wear the factory-issued hubcaps and a set of 185/75/14 radials that look right.
Complete with the original invoice and restoration receipts, this is a cool Mustang with a great story to tell. Call today!
