Vehicle Description
Movie cars are popular, but the Eleanor Mustangs from Gone in 60 Seconds seem to have taken on a life of their own. Perhaps it's Shelby's handiwork in the background of the design, or maybe it's just that guys want vintage Mustangs that can run like modern supercars. Whatever the reason, this freshly built 1967 Mustang Eleanor fastback has a blown fuel-injected 302, a 5-speed Tremec manual, and enough performance to flatten your eyeballs against the inside of your skull.
If you're familiar with the Eleanor series of cars, then this one will look very familiar to you. There's a lot of Shelby DNA in these cars, and the guys who built this one gave it a modern look thanks to a gorgeous charcoal gray paint job. Other tweaks include, of course, the custom front bumper with center-mounted driving lights, side exhaust and custom rocker moldings, and a Shelby-style ducktail spoiler. The finish work is exemplary, with arrow-straight sheetmetal, exacting gaps, and fantastic attention to detail. All the new fiberglass pieces have been massaged to fit the original steel panels without any mis-matched gaps, so the car has a seamless look that contributes to the allure of this particular Eleanor fastback.
Treated to a full makeover, the black leather interior combines classic 1967 styling with modern upgrades that are completely in keeping with Eleanor's performance potential. Deeply sculpted bucket seats hold you in place during aggressive driving, but their stitching recalls the originals. The factory dash is full of new Auto Meter white-faced gauges, and technology has been elevated to design element with the AM/FM/CD/MP3 navigation system fitted prominently in the custom center console. The custom shifter looks like a piece of industrial art with an exposed linkage and milled aluminum shift knob, and slices through the gears effortlessly. A wood wheel and aluminum pedals give it a vintage racer vibe, although there were no new 1967 Mustangs that could run with this one.
The key to these cars' great success is their performance, and this one brings a big gun to this shootout. Fortified with a fuel-injected 5.0 liter engine from a late-model Mustang, it brings a Vortech V1 supercharger, MSD ignition, and a beautifully crafted exhaust system to the party. And when you hear this sucker cackling at idle and burbling on the overrun, you'll know it's for real, never mind the way it snaps your head back between ever shift. The workmanship is impressive, as you might imagine, with a color-matched blower, polished aluminum intake, and cast aluminum Ford Motorsport valve covers that look '60s cool. There are more than a few chassis upgrades, including shocks and sway bars, as well as front disc brakes. The finishing touch are a set of 18-inch Eleanor style wheels, which were inspired by vintage Halibrands, and they wear 245/40/18 front and 275/35/18 rear Nitto radials.
This freshly built car has only test miles on it, leaving the only question as to whether you're man enough to handle Eleanor. Call today!
