Gorgeous, fast and tight sums up this 1957 Pontiac 'Laurentian' 2-door hardtop. Canadians know what status this car had back then and when I mention the famous, 'Starchief' name to the American public they know as well, what status this car had in the mid-fifties. It was downright gorgeous and made a statement out in the suburbs. These are the same cars, but back then certain nameplates were designated for certain countries. It is seldom done today. Back in 1957 lots of things were going on at Pontiac. In fact one change happened the previous summer, when Semon E. Bunkie Knudsen became Pontiac's new general manager. And soon after that he hired Pete Estes and John DeLorean, in a move that would mean good things for the company for many years to come. If Bunkie had in his parts bin what this owner has done to this car, there would have never been a recession. This beauty comes with a 350 cid - V-8 motor with a 307 hp that is mated to a 700R4 automatic transmission and a shift kit and a 2800 stall converter. And this is connected to a posi rear end. In addition it has coated headers, HEI, Edelbrock manifold and a Demon carburetor. Underside you will see polygraphite front bushings, new ball joints and tie rods and front springs that are lowered 2inches and power front disc brakes. The factory correct code #57A is a Raven Black over a beautiful black over silver cloth interior and chrome that is in excellent condition.

Options and accessories include power brakes, AM radio, tilt wheel, dual exhaust, back up lights, and, 6-way manual front seat and much more. The body panels appear to be original. Chrome is deep and clean just like it was when it was born in Oshawa, Ontario. The underside is clean, trim and in order. Both front and back seat cushions, door panels and armrests are all in excellent shape. To finish this car are those famous Crager wheels.

This is a serious car to consider. In 1957 Pontiac was noted as saying 'This is the most beautiful thing on wheels.' They introduced those missile shaped side trim panels, flatter tail fins, a lower hood and a more massive front bumper and grille assembly. To further identify this car they attached the Laurentian script on the front fenders and the 3 stars on the rear side fins. It was a showstopper back then and continues to be today.
